The night brought back memories of my childhood in Arkansas. When a tornado warning was issued the men folk would often stand outside to watch. They scanned the skies for the funnel cloud. Then at the last minute they would join the smarter gender and take cover in a bathroom or basement.
“Maybe we shouldn’t go outside again,” I cautioned while sounding ridiculous.
Mark turned around like a sharp Razorback.
I gave in. “Guess a direct hit is better than surviving one.” So I decided to join him.
